Lafayette Main Street

Reflecting the Renewed Optimism & Civic Pride of Our Citizens

Introduction

LaFayette has a unique and authentic character rooted in history, tradition, and local culture. LaFayette has a stronger sense of place and connection for those living here and travelers alike. LaFayette’s remarkable downtown square, featuring historic buildings and the courthouse is the centerpiece of the city and attracts tourists and travelers. The addition to the square of a larger-than-life statue of the city’s most famous resident, champion boxer Joe Louis, has only added to the square’s allure. Historical display of the old river ferry “Tallapoosa Queen” and a caboose from the historic railroad are also located in downtown.

In the beautiful historic square, you can enjoy restaurants, unique boutiques for shopping, and a slower pace. Business owners are welcoming, friendly and intentional with gratitude.

Throughout the year, LaFayette Main Street host numerous special events and festivals. Quarterly Food Truck Festivals bring thousands to the downtown square for live music and over 30 Food Trucks. LaFayette Day to benefit Valley Haven School is held annually in April and brings a day of kid friendly activities, food and arts and crafts. Fall is an amazing time to enjoy the weather, football activities, and the Downtown Trunk or Treat.

The annual Christmas Festival on the Square creates downtown LaFayette as a picturesque Hallmark scene with lights and spectacular views. LaFayette Main Street also host a Cookie Crawl where you can shop local and enjoy delicious treats!

We invite you to visit and LOVE LaFayette. Embrace our architecture, history, natural surroundings, and home-grown businesses – rather than trying to adopt a new and different identity.
